Jennifer Euler is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been providing mental health services in Alaska since 2018. Jennifer’s work caring for the wellness of others began while she was living in Southeastern Alaska and worked as a direct entry midwife supporting women having birth center and home births. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services from the University of New Mexico and was a 911 and Critical Care paramedic for many years prior to teaching in the paramedic program at the University of New Mexico. After moving to Southcentral Alaska, Jennifer completed a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling through Capella University.
Jennifer specializes in helping individual adults, adolescents, children, and families heal. She has provided individual and family therapy for children and adolescents in the foster care system with the goal of helping those young people develop a positive self-concept, assertive and respectful boundary setting, healthy coping skills, and positive communication skills. Jennifer is dedicated to helping individuals manage anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and anger. She also specializes in working with first responders as she has a personal understanding of the unique circumstances they face.
When working with couples and families Jennifer takes a solution focused approach to improve communication and active listening skills, which she sees as essential in the process of strengthening and reconnecting relationships. Jennifer is honored to work with her clients in a way that celebrates who they are and utilizes their strengths and personal experiences for growth and change. She holds a strong belief that each person is an expert on themselves, and her job is to offer support, feedback, tools, and interventions to assist you in developing health and wellness.
Jennifer is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting. In her therapeutic approach she utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and existential modalities. Her work with couples and families is informed by a systemic approach to family dynamics and Levels 1 & 2 training in the Gottman Method.
After moving to the Anchorage area, Jennifer recognized her love of art and typically is engaged in the process of at least three art projects in different mediums. Jennifer is currently working on the completion of a second bachelor’s degree in art for the sake of continued learning and growth. She believes that everyone’s unique expression of their own creative process provides a window to better understanding of who we are and what we need. Jennifer enjoys including therapeutic art projects in counseling for those who are interested in this experience. When not at work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and four sons, gardening, and reading.
