Pronouns: She/Her
Megan Spears is a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has dedicated her professional career to working with families, children aged five and older, individual adults, the aging population, and forensic counseling. She received a Master of Social Work from Oklahoma University in 2017 and was an integral part of the mental health landscape in Oklahoma for over a decade prior to moving to Alaska in 2023.
Megan’s driving passion lies in guiding individuals toward a transformation, from mere survival to true thriving. She believes that each person’s journey is unique, that the path to healing and change must be tailored to suit their distinct experiences.
Megan’s training encompasses a range of therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). Megan specializes in working with individuals struggling with suicidal ideations, self-injurious behaviors, anxiety, depression, trauma, and chemical dependency.
Believing in the power of introspection, Megan emphasizes the role of understanding one’s own strengths for fostering personal growth and the internal processes that empower the people she works with. She advocates for the concept of re-parenting one’s inner child to pave the way for a healthier, well-adjusted adulthood.
Megan’s skillset extends beyond individual therapy to include group therapy, an arena in which she has extensive experience within community behavioral health and forensic settings. Megan has designed therapeutic group experiences utilizing DBT and Schema therapy and is passionate about the possibilities inherent in a group of individuals that come together to support one another, promoting healing and community in deeply intimate ways.
Recently transplanting from Oklahoma to Alaska with her family, Megan is eager to embark on adventures in her new environment. Beyond her professional pursuits, Megan finds joy in spending quality time with her family, engaging in creative crafting, nurturing her garden, and weightlifting.
