Master’s Level Counselor

Pronouns: She/Her

Alyssa Cimino holds a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage and earned a certificate in Children’s Mental Health. Alyssa is a lifelong Alaskan who enjoys embracing all that Alaska has to offer. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors camping and exploring nature, discovering unique treasures while thrifting, and taking long walks with her dog. Her love for community, connection, and the outdoors reflects the warmth and grounded approach she brings into her work with clients.

Alyssa works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a wide range of concerns including anxiety, chronic stress, trauma, life transitions, emotional regulation difficulties, self-esteem challenges, and parenting concerns. When working with couples Alyssa integrates the Gottman Method and Relational Life Therapy. Her therapeutic style supports all of her clients in the development of personal insight, understanding their emotions, strengthening communication, and building healthier patterns of connection.

Alyssa believes that a strong therapeutic relationship built on empathy, authenticity, and trust creates the foundation for meaningful change. Alyssa strives to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.

Her therapeutic approach is informed by empirically supported interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, and strengths-based techniques. Alyssa particularly enjoys helping clients identify and understand the core beliefs that influence their emotions, behaviors, and relationships. She works collaboratively with clients to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns, strengthen coping strategies, increase self-awareness, build resilience, and develop healthier, more balanced perspectives.

Alyssa has a particular passion for working with children and parents. She incorporates child-centered and Adlerian therapy approaches to encourage the development of  emotional awareness, confidence, and stronger relationships with family and peers. Alyssa values partnering closely with parents and caregivers to better understand children’s emotional and behavioral needs and work towards strengthening family connection and communication. She enjoys supporting parents through psychoeducation, developing parenting strategies that help families feel more confident and connected.

Alyssa is excited to be continuing her journey toward full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor while also working towards her certification as  Registered Play Therapist.
